Entering Song Lyrics in ALSong Script

Hello and welcome to Entering new song lyrics in ALSong.

We'd like to give a hearty thanks to Kimo Watanabe and the Autumn Addicts for letting us publish their music at ALTools, and we'll be using some of their music in this video.

If you've got music, but no lyrics are displayed, you can enter your own lyrics.

As you can see here, I've already entered these lyrics by the Autumn Addicts.

So I'm going to scroll down in the playlist and play a song that isn't in the ALSong Song Lyrics database.

To enter new song lyrics, click on the message in the Lyrics window or click the Submit Lyrics button.

In the Lyrics Check window, ALSong will verify whether or not lyrics are already linked to your music.

As you can see, no lyrics exist for this song.

To get started entering lyrics, click Next.

On the Music Info screen you can enter the proper song title, artist, and album if ALSong doesn't find it already in your music file.

Click next to continue.

On the Song Lyrics Search screen click the Search button. ALSong will then try to find lyrics that match and give you the chance to link them if they already do exist.

If any do exist, you can select them from the drop down menu and then link and preview them with the the "Link Song Lyrics" and "Preview" buttons. There's also a convenient seek slider to let you scan through the song to check synchronizations quickly.

"Study Your Life" isn't already in the ALSong database, so I'll just click next.

In this next screen you can enter the lyrics for the song. I'll just paste the lyrics into the input here and click next.

This next screen is where you can create the proper synchronizations for your song lyrics. Here you can play, pause, stop, seek through music with the seek slider, change the speed faster or slower, choose how many lines to sync at a time, reset the timings back to zero, test your synchronizations, and set sync points.

Once you've got sync points set, you can use the buttons along the bottom to move the sync points if they aren't quite right.

To make things faster you can use the seek bar to scan around the music. Once you've reached the point where the lyrics are, it's best to anticipate them and click the Set Sunc Point button 1 or 2 beats before you hear the words. That way when you listen to the music, the lyrics will appear just before you hear them.

So let's start synchronizing some music lyrics.

Once you're finished, click next.

At this point, you get to enter some information about you like your name or handle and your web address if you have one. You can also enter some comments here.

You have to enter a name, but that can be a nickname as well, so I'll enter a screen name that I use, but instead of linking it to the ALTools site or my own little space on the web, I'll link it to The Autumn Addicts web site.

And I'll enter a comment here. Click next to continue.

On the final screen ALSong will tell you if your new lyrics have been entered ok or not.

I hope that you've enjoyed this little video and that you enjoy using ALSong.
