Topic Extracting Large archives produces errors

Hello,

I downloaded MS Virtual machine manager 2008 beta in zip file from the MS website and ran some tests on it. As a result, ALZip could not extract files properly as you saw in CRC error window. I passed this one on to the ALZip dev. team and they went in to check as well. However, ALZip still could not extract the files, but WinZip and WinRAR could. Although the file is in a .ZIP extension, each file has been compressed in different algorithm and we believe that ALZip cannot support those algorithm. (algorithm varies depending on how/ by what it was used when compressed at first.)

As you may guess from reading ALZip forum, ALZip has been out for a while and we are currently working on the next version of ALZip. It still has yet to be released but it is definitely coming soon! Until then, we can ask you to use other alternatives. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need more assistance.

(Thanks for reporting this. We will try to implement this one in the next version.)

Best,

Ahyun Jun

Topic new skin

Hello,

Yes, we hope to see more ane more skins to come out! I am bugging ALSong developer to make a little program for creating ALSong skin. (b/c there is a 'Skin maker program' for Korean version of ALSong and it is much quicker and easier to make/edit skins.) Well this is one of my wishlist for ALSong but we will see how it goes. Big Grin

Best,

Ahyun

Topic Extracting Large archives produces errors

I've just recently tries to extract a large zip file (2.7GB) and I get an unknown archive format part way through the extraction. I then get a huge list of CRC errors and more unknown archive format errors.

If I open the file in winzip 12 it extracts fine so I know the archive is ok.

If it helps it's the MS Virtual Machine Manager 2008 Beta zip file that's available from the connect portal if you want to see for yourselves (Be warned it's a biggie).

I've never had to extract a file that large so I've never seen this before.

Is it a bug, or is there some hidden setting I've not seen.

Cheers, Mike...

Topic Bug on files'name when opening a tar.gz
Hello,

I tried to create a smaller tar.gz with just some folders to send to you but then the bug disappeared so it seems that the bug is in relation with the size of the tar.gz

Unfortunatly, I cannot send you a full tar.gz for confidential reasons but I can send you a part of the extract files (~ 4 Mo) with some folders where you can see the bug. So what I can send to you :

1- A part of the files extract from the full tar.gz : ~ 4 Mo
2- The same part of files extract from the full tar.gz and recompressed in .tgz : ~ 1 Mo
3- The same part of files compressed in tar.gz directly on the server by Putty. It's the small tar.gz I'm talking about in my first paragraph that has no bug and where you will be able to see how files should be. : ~ 3 Mo

I noticed also that a folder has completly disappeared from the buggy extract files (1- and 2-). On the server, the folder is correctly compressed in the tar.gz

Please let me know how I can send you those files and if you want all of them.

Thank you,

Emilie

Do you mind sending those files to us so we can take a look at the problem? Or, send us some part of it so we can reproduce the problem. Please let me know so I can send you the information on how you can get the files to us.

Topic Bug on files'name when opening a tar.gz
Hello,

I'm facing an issue when I try to open huge tar.gz files, around 800 Mo. These tar.gz files contain Internet files such as php, css and images format.

When I open a tar.gz in ALZip, I have some files and folders that have there names changed with the permission code of the file or folder. For example : the file "default.png" becomes "default.png0000644". It seems that the files and folders which have the bug is completly random. I mean that in one folder with 10 php files only one or two will have the bug.
Also the bug is still there when I extract the tar.gz

I've create these tar.gz with a backup wizard in the cpanel of my hosting company. I've looked inside the tar.gz directly on the server with putty and it appears that on the server the tar.gz has no bug. To transfer the tar.gz on my computer, I'm using winscp so I don't know if the bug is in this program or in ALZip.

Maybe someone had faced the same bug and can tell me about some configurations I can do to fix this bug.

Thank you in advance for your help

Emilie

Topic Esc key crashes IE 7

Hello, Max.

Thanks for pointing that out for us. Yes, I've checked there is a problem as you told me. However, I found that the same bug has been reported in Korean verison of ALToolbar and it is now fixed in Korean version (v1.24), meaning that the next English version of ALToolbar will no longer have this issue. We are currently working on other ALTools product so it will take some time until we see the new ALToolbar. I will post it here when we come up with releasing plan.

Best,

Ahyun

Topic Esc key crashes IE 7

Hi,

when you start Screen Capture from the toolbar in IE 7, choose a capture method and then cancel it with Esc, the whole iexplore.exe crashes after reporting a "problem" in the add-on ALToolBand_114_25.dll. The crash only seems to appear if you have more than one tab opened in the window. I hope it's not only my PC and you can reproduce the bug.

Sincerely,

- Max

Topic Bug in ALZip beta 1? cannot open a standard jar

I tried to open file sqljdbc.jar which is shipped (or downloaded) with MS Sqlserver. ALZip reports "Error: Error: header corrupted". Then I tried to open the same file with the jar utility from Java 6, with parameter tv to see the table of contents. That worked without any problem. Therefore, that might be a bug in ALZip v7.0 beta1.
