Alsee and Vista ?

Is there a Vista issue with Alsee? After working for some 2 days with Alsee I now get a "Alsee doesnt work anymore" thingy from Vista when I click on its icon or when I click on a .jpg file to view it. I can however start Alsee when I right click and execute it as administartor which is unpleasant. I have had the same with Acdsee (although right clicking and executing as adm. doesnt work here) and had to uninstall the package. Any ideas what I can do about this? (I am a complete non technical "user only")

Hello,

At the moment ALSee is not fully Vista compatible. ALSee v5 adds in Vista compatibility, but that won't be available for a little while yet. We're working on getting it ready in English at the moment. (ALSee v5 is available in Korean only right now.)

For the time being, I can only really recommend running ALSee as administrator on Vista. There may be other issues, but we're not supporting ALSee v4.x on Windows Vista (that's for v5).

If you check back in a couple months we should have ALSee v5 available. I'll also send out a notice in the ALTools newsletter to everyone that's registered here at the site. (There's help to manage your subscriptions here.)

You can configure shortcuts in Windows Vista to run as administrator, after which you don't need to to all the right-click stuff. For that you need to right-click on the shortcut, click the "Advanced" button, then check the "Run as administrator" checkbox and click OK.

I believe that you will be prompted by the Windows Vista UAC then. Just click "Allow" or "Continue". I do not recommend turning off UAC in Vista. That is an annoyance that is there for your protection and should be left as is.

Excuase me, is there an english version of ALSEE v.5 right now?(Since the Korean version got it's v.5.3[however, I don't know any korean])  I can't find the download link since ther's only v.4.12 beta on the web-site. THX!

ALSee v5.x version in English will be out very shortly and it will be posted on this website once we release them.
Plus, the new version of ALSee will be fully Vista compatiable.
