Manually Adding Web Site Logins

  1. If you don't want ALPass to automatically prompt you to add sites, and would rather do it all manually, you can uncheck the Auto Add checkbox and ALPass will not prompt you to add anymore sites.

    Check or uncheck your preferences

  2. To add a site manually, navigate to the web site, then click the Add toolbar button or on the menu click File —> Add Site/Folder then click Add Site... on the flyout menu.

    Add web sites to ALPass

  3. Enter a description, the web site login ID and password then click OK.

    Enter information and click OK

Address Keywords

Address Keywords can trigger ALPass to recognize a site that you may wish to automatically login to. Choose the specific Address Keywords that you wish to trigger ALPass with. These can be all, or part of the domain name and even the specific path, page, and any GET variables in the URL (e.g. In http://www.site.com/page.asp?myvar=myvalue, the "myvar=myvalue" is the GET variable in the URL).

For Example, for the web site address http://idisk.hitel.net, you can select the domain name (hitel) and top level domain (net), HITEL.NET, as the Address Keyword, which will also trigger ALPass on http://mail.hitel.net and http://www.hitel.net, because they both contain "hitel.net".

However, if you choose everything from the subdomain (idisk) down to the top level domain (net) IDISK.HITEL.NET, that Address Keyword will not trigger ALPass at http://www.hitel.net or at http://mail.hitel.net because neither of them contains the keyword "idisk.hitel.net".

The more specific the keyword, the fewer pages or URLs will be recognized. For ALPass to recognize more pages, use a more general (smaller) keyword, like the site name, e.g. HITEL.NET, or HITEL.

Add keywords so that ALPass can recognize the site when you visit it

The Add Keywords to Manual Site Keyword Manager Checkbox

If you do not wish ALPass to fill in information or interact with a site for specific keywords, you can quickly add those keywords to the Manual Site Keyword Manager keyword list by selecting a keyword, checking the Add Keywords to Manual Site Keyword Manager checkbox, and clicking OK. You can then go back and set a new keyword for ALPass to recognize.

This is the exact same function as when you add keywords to the Manual Site Keyword Manager keyword list:

  1. Under the Browser tab in Preferences or,
  2. In the menu item Manual Site Keyword Manager under Tools.

Stop ALPass from recognizing sites automatically by adding url keywords to a list

CAUTION: Adding a keyword like "WWW", "COM", "NET", or "ORG" will cause ALPass to ignore all web sites with those keywords, which is the overwhelming majority of all web sites on the internet. [Please see Manual Site Keyword Manager for more information.] If you have problems with ALPass not recognizing web sites, this could very well be the problem. Delete the entry in Manual Site Keyword Manager and things should return to normal.
