 Preferences - Codecs
Chose how much you would like ALShow to do for you automatically with codecs.
Codecs
 Use embedded codecs: Most if not all videos you watch require codecs to view properly. ALShow includes many codecs so that you don't need to hunt them down on the internet and then install them. If you prefer to use external codecs, uncheck this option.
ALShow Codec Center: If ALShow is missing a codec, or the proper codec is not installed on your system, the ALShow Codec Center can automatically assist you with downloading and installing the proper codec.
Download and install codecs automatically: If you've enabled the ALShow Codec Center, you can also have ALShow automatically download and install codecs for you.
Windows Media (URL/MMS): For streaming media (http or mms) you can select which codec you want to use for or let ALShow do it for you.
| • | Automatically Select: Let ALShow choose for you. If this fails for any reason, you can set it manually. |
| • | ASF Reader: This codec is newer, supports faster seeking, and performs better than the older Windows Media Source Filter, but may fail for some media streams. In these rare cases, you can switch to the older Windows Media Source Filter. |
| • | Windows Media Source Filter: Use this if the newer ASF Reader fails for some media streams. |
