This dialog box pops-up when you try to extract files to a folder where files of the same name already exist. Note that overwriting can be done without being prompted by the Overwrite file dialog box when you check the Overwrite option in the Extract dialog box.
The two available options are to:
Skipping files simply passes over extracting the file from the archive and preserves the file that already exists on disk. Overwriting files replaces the one on disk with the one from the archive. There are 3 ways to do this:
The "Always" option replaces the file on disk with the one in the archive irrespective of the time stamp. The "Update" option allows you to keep the newest version of a file. The "Restore" option is for restoring files from backup archives, and is useful when you want to restore something like a project directory back to a previous known state. To overwrite files:
To stop extracting files, click the Cancel button.
Caution: Overwriting files is VERY different from deleting files to the Windows Recycle Bin. You can retrieve deleted files from the Recycle Bin, but you cannot get back files that have been overwritten, i.e. Overwritten files are gone forever.
