FTP, or File Transfer Protocol, is the most popular way to transfer files
on the internet.
ALFTP is an easy and intuitive way for you to use FTP to transfer files.
|
|
|
|
Before you use ALFTP, you do need to know a couple things:
- ADDRESS: FTP sites have addresses, just like regular
web sites, e.g. ftp.somesite.com.
- PORT: FTP sites use ports to connect, just like regular
web sites, e.g. port #21 is the standard for FTP, while port #80 is
the standard for web sites
- LOGIN: FTP sites often require logins and passwords
to connect to them, similar to some web sites
If you've got those 3 things, you're ready. If you don't have the login,
the site you need to access may not require it. In that case try something
like "guest" for the login and "my@emailaddress.com"
for the password. Otherwise, contact the FTP site owner or administrator
for those 3 pieces of information.
